Masherano leaves Barcelona for China after 8years at the club.

Javier Alejandro Mascherano has left Barcelona after eight years at the club.

The 33 year old joined Barcelona from Liverpool in 2010 for £17m.

An agreement has been made with Chinese super league club Hebei Fortune Chinawhere Mascherano will be heading to on the 26 of January.
 Mascherano won 18 trophies at the club, including four La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues.

He played 334 games for Barcelona, scoring one goal - from the penalty spot in 2016-17.

The board and players were at the his farewell ceremony today where he thanked everyone for their support,

Mascherano: “The most difficult part about playing for Barça is that one day, you have to leave.”

“The secret of success has been the dressing room. When I arrived, I found a spectacular group of people who supported me alot and helped me grow as a player and as a person."


“I am so happy to have stayed here for so many years. I never thought I would be a part of the history of this club, its a dream come true for me to be part of  this club for eight years."

“When I came, I knew Barça have the best midfield in the world, so I knew I wouldn’t play as much which was one of the reason i had to switched to the center back position."

“I had a lot of conversations with Ernesto and we understood each other well. When you get older, you’re more in the shoes of the manager than the players. I have to thank him for the way he treated me.”

“I do think about becoming a manager. But for now, it’s not the priority, I'll be facing another challenge in China, that is my priority for now."

"I feel very young, there's still some few years left in my career. I've won everything here in this club but i still have a dream with the national team."

Two 15 year old shot dead by their class mate and 18 others injured in Marshall County High School, Kentucky.

Two student of Marshall County High School, Kentucky, were shot dead on Tuesday morning by their class mate, CNN reports.

The 15 year old student opened fire, killing two of his class mate and wounded 18 others.

The killer has been arrested by the police after killing Bailey Holt and Preston Cope, both 15 years of age.

Governor of the state Mr Matt Bevin has said shortly after the incident that the killer will be tried as an adult, he will be charged with murder and an attempted murder.

His name is been withheld from the public until he's been indicted.

One of the victim, Bailey Holt died at immediately at the high school and the other Preston died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

In a statement by the State Police Commissioner Richer W. Sanders, he said the shooter walk into the school with a handgun at 8:57a.m ET and opened fire.

The injured victims were from 14 to 18 years of age, state police reports.

Takesha Thomas is fighting to stop doctors from ending life support on her 11-month-old son. She told a judge that only God should decide when her son will die.

Doctors at the King's College Hospital said further treatment on her son Isaiah Haastrup will be futile and will not help him improve.
They said he is disabled, but can still feel pain.

Both parent of Isaiah wants the the life support to continue as they believe their son will make sooner than later.

As a firm believer and a Pentecostal Christian, Mrs Thomas said "As I'm concern, I don't think it is right to decide on who or who should not live. The life belongs to God, if he wants to take it, then its fine, he'll take it."
She told the judge: "When i speak to him, he will respond slowly by opening one eye.
"My child is injured. He needs all the love, care and support he can get. I have it and i can give it."
"When i cuddle him and sing to him, he falls asleep in my arms," she said.

A specialist that has been treating Isaiah told the judge that due to his experience and other situation that he handled in the past, people in Isaiah's situation will not improve.
According to him Isaiah is profoundly disabled and that he cannot breathe on his own.

A representative of King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, told the judge that the medical reports on Isaiah showed that it would be in his best interest that they stop treatments on him.

The final hearing whether he'll continue in life support or not, will end on Wednesday.

Two policemen have been arrested for the death of two Nigerians in Durban South Africa

Reports in South Africa has confirmed that the South African indigenes who are responsible for the violent attack on Nigerians seeking green pastures in Durban and other areas have been arrested and arraigned in South African Court on Monday, January 22 .

The Nigerian Mission in South Africa report that the Consular officers from the Nigerian Consulate General in Johannesburg and the Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria were in attendance at the Durban high court to witness the proceedings.

The suspected policemen were arraigned in court and the case was adjourned till Monday 29 January.
The policemen were not grant bail and remanded in prison custody.
In a statement by the Consul General, the late Okori was killed on Friday in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal Province, South Africa.

Mr Godwin Adams who is the Nigeria Consul General in Johannesburg, South Africa said " We condemn in strong terms the violent attack and we call on the South African authorities to look into the matter and put it to an end. We also urge Nigerians to continue to abide by the laws and rules that governs this state. All hands are on deck to deliver justice to the family of the deceased".

He also assured that the investigation will unravel the cause of the death of another Nigerian who was killed in Rustenburg, Northwest Province, South Africa, on January 20, 2018.
"We want to appeal to Nigerians here in South Africa not to take law into their hands as everything is under control and those involved will not go unpunished," he said.

Talented South African trumpeter Hugh Masekelahas dies at 78

Talented South African trumpeter Hugh Masekelahas is dead, TimesLive reports.

The Minister of Arts and Culture in South Africa Nathi Mthethwa confirmed the news about Masekelahas on his Twitter handle, saying:

A baobab tree has fallen, the nation has lost a one of the most talented musician with the passing onto glory of Jazz legend bra Hugh Masekela. We can say for sure that bra Hugh was one of the great architects of Afro Jazz and he uplifted the soul of our nation through his timeless music.

The Masekela's family revealed that the jazz trumpeter passed away after battling with prostate cancer.

"After a protracted and courageous battle with prostate cancer, he passed peacefully in Johannesburg, South Africa, surrounded by his family who was with him all through the time. "

Masekela was was prominent in South Africans fight for apartheid, his hit song way back in 1987 "Bring Him Back Home" was the theme tune for Nelson Mandela's world tour after he was released from prison.

Date and venue for his memorial and burial will be released to the public soon, said the family.

The former head coach of the super eagles, Nigeria football legend and former captain who led the super eagles to glory at the 2013 AFCON, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi was celebrated by Google today with their Doodle feature.

The Nigerian football legend who passed away two years ago, would have marked his 56th birthday today, but Google celebrated him as one of Africa's most talented and a legend even as he is no more.

Stephen Okechukwu Keshi started fulfilling his dreams and aspirations to become a successful footballer when he started playing for clubs like ACB Lagos  and New Nigeria Bank. He later traveled abroad and signed for clubs like Anderlechtin Belgium and RC Strasbourg France.

He is the first Nigeria footballer to win the African Cup of Nations as a player and a coach.
As a captain, Stephen keshi led the 1994 squad to victory and as a manager he also led the super eagles to victory at the 2013 AFCON tournament where the super eagles defeated the burkina babes of Burkina Faso by a lone goal.

The actress shared her excitement on becoming the first transgender in history to be on the cover of the magazine, she posted in instagram saying " I am so honored and happy to cover the February issue of @Cosmopolitansa"

Cosmopolitan SA also shared the cover with the caption:

Leading Zimbabwe political figure, Roy Bennett and his wife died in helicopter crash.

An helicopter that carried leading Zimbabwean politician Roy Bennett and his wife has crashed in North America killing the couple along with three others.
The accident took place on Wednesday in a mountainous area in the US state of New Mexico where only one person survived with multiple injuries.

Mr Roy Bennett, who was age 60, was once a white farmer who later became a stalwart of the opposition party Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).
members of the party expressed their shock on the accident that has taken the life of Mr Bennett and his lovely wife.

Mr Obert Gutu, a spokesman for the MDC party said in a statement that Mr Bennett was a great man and a popular grassroots politician and a successful commercial farmer. "Mr Bennett was a resolute and a committed fighter for Democratic change in Zimbabwe, "Mr Gutu said.

The helicopter crashed in north eastern New Mexico 18:00 local time on Wednesday (01:00 GMT Thursday) but they were confirmed dead on Thursday by authorities.

The cause of the crash is not yet known as investigation are still ongoing.

Honourable Aishatu Dakku

Aishatu Dukku, a member of the House of Representatives representing Dakku, Nafada constituency in Gombe state, gave an opinion that caused an uproar in the house of representative meeting on Wednesday.

Speaking when the house members deliberated on the recent attacks by the Fulani herdsmen in some part of the state, she said Nigerians have become so impatient and edgy now probably because of the too much consumption of maggi cubes.

Honorable Dakku said:
Why have we become so edgy now, is it because of the food we eat. We eat too much maggi, now we don't want to listen to what anyone has to say.
We don't want to seek for solutions that will solve these issues we're having in our country.
Mr Speaker i see my colleagues say the herdsmen values his cattle more than anything. You can't just sit down here and just make conclusions.
" God has created the herdsmen to value their cows more than their own life, that is how it has been".

Other members didn't agree with the honorable when she said God created the herdsmen to love cattle's more than human life.

A member responded by saying " we shouldn't drag this issue into religious ground, rather steps should be taken to solve this issue" he said.

UK Prime Minister - Theresa May

The United kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May has appointed Tracey Crouch as the Minister of Loneliness. Telegraph reports.

Tracey crouch who is the Minister for Sports and Civil Society, will reportedly fill the role of heading the ministry.

The ministry was created in honour of Labour MP jo cox, who Theresa May has described as one who wanted to "shine a light" on loneliness.

It had been recommended to the government by the Jo cox Loneliness Commission, an organization set up in honour of the late MP, to appoint a minister responsible for the problem.

The Prime Minister said:
Loneliness has been the sad reality of a modern life for too many people.

"I want to confront this challenge for our society and for all of us to fight against the loneliness endured by the elderly, by carers, by those who have lost love ones, people who have no friend or family to talk to or share their thoughts and experience with." She said.

"Jo Cox recognized the scale of loneliness across the country and dedicated herself to doing all that she could to help those affected".

" I am happy that the Government can build on her legacy with a minister of loneliness who will work with the commission, businesses and charities to shine a light on the issue of loneliness and pull together all strands of Government to create the first ever strategy to battle against loneliness." She said.

FCDA demolished Patience Jonathan property in Abuja. (PHOTOS)

A building property belonging to the former First lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan, was demolished by the Federal Capital Development Authority yesterday. The building ,located at the Mabushi District of the nation's Capital, was being used to run a Foundation owned by the wife of the former president, Patience Jonathan.

The counsel to Patience Jonathan, Mr Emmanuel Anene, said the FCDA had no right to bring down the building as the relevant authorities had been shown the building plan.

He said that the matter have been taken to court, He accused the FCDA of disrespecting the rule of law.

"Sometimes before, representatives of development control came to this site, alleging that there was no approval for the work to be done here. We went go their office to have a discussion with them, we showed them the approval, which they accepted. We thought that the matter was over. They had earlier gone to the court with application for forfeiture of the property to the government which they failed to achieve at the high court in lagos. We are very amazed that a team was here in the afternoon without our awareness and without notifying us to remove the structure. Also, there was no notice of demolition, they just came in and started the  demolition of the structure. " he said

However, the FCDA didn't agree with that, they said that the demolished building was not approved to carryout building activities and that a notice was served before the building was demolished.

Aliko Dangote blames unemployment as the cause of increase in terror activities.

Popular businessman and Africa's Richest man, Aliko Dangote  has condemned the killings of Nigerians by the Fulani Herdsmen.

In an interview with channels tv, Aliko Dangote said unemployment is the main cause and is largely responsible for the the killings and restiveness being experienced in many parts of Nigeria. He said, gainfully employed persons can never be behind the attack and killings that has being happening recently.

"If there are jobs, there wouldn't be anything like Boko Haram, there would not be anything like herdsmen. Once you are engaged, once you're employed, you won't have the time to engage yourself in terror activities, " he said.

Well, "like the saying goes, a idle mind is the devil's workshop", Mr Dangote has a point, unemployment has made lots of Nigerian youths participate in various criminal act.

Though the Federal Government has map out plans to reduce the rate of unemployment, the rate of unemployment hasn't reduced. If we must fight crime, we must first reduced unemployment rate in the country.

Gas Explosion Kills Ten In Lagos.

There was a deadly explosion today at the Second Coming Gas station in Magodo, Lagos, yesterday morning.

10 persons have been confirmed dead as a result of the explosion at the gas station.

The gas plant where the explosion occurred is located at CMD Road, opposite Magodo Brooks Estate, lagos.

The Lagos State Fire services, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Federal Road Safety Corps and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency were at the scene to extinguish the fire and they also prevented the fire from spreading beyond the  station.

But before they arrived at the scene, ten people had already lost their lives as a result of the explosion.

The cause of the explosion is yet unknown.
Investigations are been carried out to know the cause of the explosion.

Speedy car hits a building second floor.

An over-speeding car flew into the air and slammed into the second floor of a building in Orange County, California, early Sunday morning.

The incident unfolded in the 300 block of East 17th Street in Santa Ana, CBS Los Angeles reports. The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) said the driver hit a center divider, catapulting the vehicle into the air. The car was reportedly traveling at a high speed when it hit the median and flew into the building, which houses a dental practice.

Upon impact, a fire broke out and was quickly extinguished. Firefighters said there were two people inside the vehicle. Both victims were safely removed from the car with minor injuries. The driver admitted to using narcotics and was admitted to a hospital for observation, Santa Ana police said.

Former wife of US President, ivana trump, has come out to defend her ex husband, following his recent comments on African countries as Shit holes countries.

In an interview in the UK with Good Morning Britain TV show, she was asked about the president's remarks on African countries as "shit holes" last week and she replied and said she did not believe those remarks showed him as a racist, "sometimes he says things that are silly, but he's not a racist, " she said.

President Trump's also defends his comments on African countries been "shit holes countries " on Sunday.

He said to reporters at a dinner photo in Florida "I'm not racist. I am the the least racist person you've ever interviewed."

Former wife of the president, Ivana trump, told ITV network's morning show that she never taught Trump "was going to do anything irrational," adding that "he's a genius, definitely. He's very stable, very focused and well organized," she said.

Young Nigerian Boy Stabbed To Death In London.

There's an ongoing murder investigation after a Nigerian teenage boy was stabbed to death in Chislehurst, South east London.

18 years old Oluwadamilola Odeyingbo, was stabbed and died from his injuries on Wednesday, January 10, during a reported fight in Empress Drive just after 9pm the previous evening.

Residents at Empress Drive called the police on Tuesday, 9 January and reported the incident to them. The victim was quickly attended to as he was taken by the London Ambulance Service to a south London Hospital Where he passed away.

A postmortem examination is been conducted.

The police are currently investigating the issue and as part of its efforts to seek justice, an 18 year old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder on the day of the incident.

The police are appealing to the public for useful information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits. Chief inspector Tim Wright said:

"We are aware that the neighbors and passersby witnessed the incident on Tuesday evening. We are ready to speak to all who witnessed the fight and would encourage them to come forward as soon as possible.

A relative posted on twitter that his aunt, the boy's mom left Nigeria to live a better life in the UK.

"My aunt traveled to the UK to get a better life, then some idiots went to stab my cousin to death, i know twitter is a strong place and i know if everyone write about this, someone will come forward to say something, they're people who witnessed my cousin's death" he wrote.

The police are still investigating to arrest those responsible for the killing of the teenager.

May his soul rest in peace.

Lai Mohammed warn against fallacious reports and false accusations on Fulani Herdsmen killing.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has appealed to the media and public speakers to be careful in their coverage of the fallouts on the recent Fulani herdsmen killings in Benue.

Mr Lai Mohammed made the appeal in a statement in Abuja on Saturday. The minister cautioned against "fallacious comments, unrestrained use of pictures and videos that offends human sensibilities" in their reports of the crisis.

The minister also warned against false accusations that could worsen the situation and frustrate ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to dissolve the Crisis.

Concerning the media and commentators, the minister said that they should be extremely careful in other not to inflame the current situation.

Lai Mohammed also said that the Government is on top of the situation and working hard to prevent a recurrence nationwide.

"Our point are clear enough, we are not saying the media houses should not do their job. Our point is that both the media and public speakers should be circumspect. Because false comments, unrestrained use of pictures and footages that offends human sensibilities as well as false accusations and finger pointing will one worsen the strive for peace, unity and tranquility in the country, " he said.

The Minister said the Federal Government were dismayed by the recent killings in the country.

He said that President Muhammadu Buhari, has condemned the killings of innocent Nigerians who lost their lives to the Fulani Herdsmen terrorist group.

He said the president had also assured of maximum security measures to stop further attacks and bring the offenders to justice.

The minister also said that the Government had mapped out both short and long term solutions to stop the terrorist attack, including a planned conference of stakeholders.

He also assured of the Government's strong determination to end the crisis.

More than 300 people were rendered homeless by a explosive fire outbreak in Ekeki Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State

The explosive fire out break occurred at about 2a.m midnight. The fire outbreak left no valuables untouched as valuables and properties where destroyed in the fire accident.

Those affected by the fire outbreak in the area could not hold back their tears as they watch the fire spreading beyond control on their valuables.

Though valuables were lost, no death was recorded. One of the affected resident said he suspected that the fire outbreak was caused by a candle light as there was no electricity supply.

He said firemen who arrived at the scene of the accident,could only prevent the fire from spreading to the Ekeki Police Station.

" the outbreak occurred very early this morning at about 2.am. Our efforts to prevent the fire from spreading are futile as we could only run for our lives and stare as our hard earn properties are been destroyed by the fire. The fire fighters could only stop the fire from spreading to the police station, if not, it could have been affected too.

"For now we're not 100%  sure if it was the candle light that caused the fire outbreak or not. But smoke was coming out from one of the apartment in the building, a woman saw the smoke, but she kept quiet, now this is what it has resulted to.

Over 300 of us live here. One of us lost N300,000 to this fire,everything got burnt," he said.

The police are still investigating,to know the cause of the fire.

Fast rising British Nigerian model, Harry Uzoka was stabbed to death in a robbery attack in west London on Thursday.

Harry's dream of a global domination was cut short on the 11th of January, 2018 when he was stabbed to death in what has been described as a "robbery gone wrong".

According to Evening Standard, the 25- year old British Nigerian model was " found collapsed on a pavement with a knife wound to his chest in west London " Efforts made by paramedics to resuscitate him yielded no result.

Latest: Seven APC governors, urges President Buhari to contest for 2019 elections

Seven governors of the All Progressive Congress (APC) have asked President Muhammadu Buhari to contest for the presidential seat in 2019.

The governors held a meeting with the president today at the Aso Rock presidential Villa in Abuja.

Those present at the meeting are Nasir El Rufai of kaduna, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, Yahaya Bello of kogi and Abubakar Bello of Nicer states.

Others present at the meeting are Simon Lalong of plateau, Ibrahim Geidam of Yobe and Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa state.

The governors, except Mr. Lalong of plateau state attended the Friday Muslim prayers with the president at the villa. They later had lunch together.

Mr. El-Rufai spoke briefly with journalist after the meeting, he said they were at the Villa because they are "politicians".

"Those of us you see here want the president to contest the 2019 election; we have no apologies for that, " he said.

"We believe in Mr. President, and on the plans he have, we want him to continue running the country in the right direction. People can speculate about 2019; we have no apologies."

Mr. El-Rufai told newsmen that the governors, mostly first termers, are all interested in "continuity and stability".

"We wang the president to continue with that, " he said.

Mr. El-Rufai said they were at the state house "by coincidence ".

" We went to pray and decided to felicitate with the President and we feel satisfied that anytime we see him, be is getting better and better.

On the ongoing strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, over his decision to sack teachers, Mr. El-Rufai said his stands remain the same on the issue and that there is no going back.

He also added that the government's decision is a "well thought out position"

"It took us one and half year before we made the decision and we will not change it, " he said.

On the clash between labour leaders and security agencies on Thursday, the governor said he did not ask the police to stop the workers, saying "I was not even in Kaduna".

"Nobody is depriving them the right to protest, it's in the constitution, provided you don't take laws into your hands or violate the law," he said.

He however said there was concern over the volatile security situation in the country.

"And the last time they did such a thing they attacked the State House of Assembly, the legislature, for which they have filed criminal charges. So this is the concern, the concern is break down of law and order and not protest or strike, " he said. "They are free to do so but it will not change our position on the issue, it remain the same. "

Mr. El-Rufai said his government had already announced its decision to pay three months severance package to sacked teachers in line with the public service rule.

He also said that a provision has been made for those retiring to go through retirement training.

"Those that are interested in agriculture, we have reserved land for them to farm and those that want to go into trading, we have micro credit to support them " but they are not suitable as teachers". They can do other things and the government is ready to support them, " he said.

The governor of Kano State, Mr. Ganduje, who spoke briefly on the president handling the farmers/herders clashes, said the president had already held a meeting with key persons concerned and that "a suggestion has been put forward by the Minister of Agriculture concerning the (cattle) colony and I'm sure eventually that is the answer.

A Michigan man repeatedly stabbed the mother of his 13-year-old child with a 3-foot sword, telling his son that God made him do it, as reported by the authorities.

The 35 year old woman,  underwent surgery and is in serious condition following the attack on her by her husband on Friday morning in Battle Creek.

The suspect fled right after stabbing her, but the teen son identified him to the cops. He was  later spotted on Friday by deputies near Kalamazoo Michigan and was taken into custody without incident.

Investigators found the sword at the scene, and blood was found all over the apartment.

Blood was found on the man's body. Police said he told his son that God told him to stab his mother, according to the Enquirer.

There were three kids in the home at the time of the incident, but none of them sustained any injury.

The suspect has been jailed and Battle Creek  police officers are still investigating the attack.

A 55 year old Sandra Louis Garner, suspected of shooting and killing her husband reportedly ran an online search on  "how to kill and not get caught, " the Dallas Morning News reported.

The Texas woman, was arrested about 35 miles outside of Dallas on Wednesday. And is been charged with murder and also eligible for the death penalty.

According to the report, officers found Jon Garner dead on January 2 right inside the home he shared with his wife.

According to Maypearl Police Chief Boyd Norton, Jon Garner was shot with a 38-caliber bullet. A second bullet was reportedly discovered in a pillowcase near Garner's body in the master bedroom.

Norton said Sandra Garner called 911 that night, claiming she "was awakened by two gunshots and that she saw a masked man holding a gun and flashlight inside her house.

She said the masked man vowed not to hurt her, but had misunderstanding with his husband over "work related matters. "

Norton also revealed that Sandra Garner said she was forced to hand over $18,000 from a safe in the home to the mask man before retreating to a bathroom to count to 100 while he fled.

A second search was carried out on Garner's home on January 5..,
investigators found a 38 caliber Taurus pistol in a Ford Mustang parked right outside. The gun reportedly wasn't there during the first search by authorities on the same vehicle on January 2 and police believe Sandra Garner moved it after the first search.

The weapon was wrapped in a paper towel and two plastic bags, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Sandra Garner was issued a arrest warrant after the Texas Department of Public Safety crime lab matched the gun to the bullet inside Jon Garner's body.

The Texas Police Department later analyzed electronic devices in the home and discovered Sandra Garner's asking online search "how to kill and not get caught."
