Mr Lai Mohammed made the appeal in a statement in Abuja on Saturday. The minister cautioned against "fallacious comments, unrestrained use of pictures and videos that offends human sensibilities" in their reports of the crisis.
The minister also warned against false accusations that could worsen the situation and frustrate ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to dissolve the Crisis.
Concerning the media and commentators, the minister said that they should be extremely careful in other not to inflame the current situation.
Lai Mohammed also said that the Government is on top of the situation and working hard to prevent a recurrence nationwide.
"Our point are clear enough, we are not saying the media houses should not do their job. Our point is that both the media and public speakers should be circumspect. Because false comments, unrestrained use of pictures and footages that offends human sensibilities as well as false accusations and finger pointing will one worsen the strive for peace, unity and tranquility in the country, " he said.
The Minister said the Federal Government were dismayed by the recent killings in the country.
He said that President Muhammadu Buhari, has condemned the killings of innocent Nigerians who lost their lives to the Fulani Herdsmen terrorist group.
He said the president had also assured of maximum security measures to stop further attacks and bring the offenders to justice.
The minister also said that the Government had mapped out both short and long term solutions to stop the terrorist attack, including a planned conference of stakeholders.
He also assured of the Government's strong determination to end the crisis.
