SAGA IN THE CITY OF AMASSOMA AS THE PEOPLE EMBARK ON A PROTEST AGAINST THE OPPRESSION, INTIMIDATION AND INJUSTICE IN THE STATE OWNED UNIVERSITY (NDU)


The people of amassoma community in southern ijaw local government in Bayelsa state, has today seen the need and importance of development and can no longer seat and watch the institution go down.
The aggrieved cried out for the quick removal of the school vice chancellor  as they find him incapable of overseeing the affairs of the school in the best interest of it's students.


Angry protesters have blocked all major roads leading to the Niger Delta University (NDU), Amassoma,Bayelsa State.
The angry protesters - comprising the host community, the staff of the Niger Delta University, including cleaners and gardeners, have locked all offices and also blocked the main entrance to the institution.
They are said to be protesting against the administration of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson over an alleged marginalisation of the people of Amassoma, and the ongoing civil service reforms being carried out in the NDU by the State government.
The protesters said the NDU will not be opened for academic activities until the state government reverses its harsh decisions concerning the workers, and they have also proclaimed that the entire community, mostly the women, will not go to the bush for seven days.
They said they will not relent until the state government reverses its decision.
